Program #42, March 1 2001: Reworkings, rearrangements, revisitations.

In this somewhat themed, somewhat unthemed program we examined a variety of pieces that either rearranged older twentieth-century works (including a smattering of popular ones) into new versions, or revisited some of the same thematic/musical materials to produce discrete new works that nevertheless echoed the old in multiple ways. We also followed up on part of my last-minute removal of multiple settings of Pierrot Lunaire from last week's playlist by including Austin's reworking of the Pierrot source materials this week; we'll get back to Schoenberg's original Pierrot in a later program to be determined.
