Iain Edgewater, host of Prisms

Eventually, I'll get around to making up a real personal website, which will no doubt have lots of nifty illuminating content (and technoid bells and whistles, because I'm now engaged in the process of learning how to do that sort of thing); but, well, it hasn't quite happened yet. Busy times. Even my old employee web page from the Day Job that used to link off the old .../prismshome site needs rebuilding before it's presentable again. So, till then, this brief biographical blurb will have to suffice:

I grew up in southeastern Kentucky, a band nerd and science geek. In college I was a science major for a year, a music major for a year, a kind of activist/slacker type for a while, and finally wound up in cultural anthropology, going on into doctoral studies as far as the ABD level (anyone out there want to fund some research on the implications for culture theory of heterogeneities in changing conceptions/experiences of romantic love among urban citizens of Viet Nam, in light of its transition to state capitalism? anyone? anyone? well, they didn't a few years back, either...damn!) before the exigencies of life thrust me into the dot-com workforce. That's where I still am, and unfortunately my life on Planet Day Job will continue to keep me fairly busy for a while yet. I'm not even performing any music right now, though I hope that will be changing soon.

What all that means is that right now Prisms is a prime outlet for my musical impulses. Despite my sojourn in academic music, I am pretty much an autodidact as regards the music I play on Prisms; finding, playing, and making such music has become a real labor of love, and I am happy to be able to share such music with you here.

What's your story? Let me know, if you like.
