Themes for individual programs on Prisms

Themes for programs derive from a variety of sources. Maybe it's something topical (e.g., my backhanded Valentine's Day 2001 program); maybe it's an idea I don't quite understand, but which won't go away and needs to be dealt with somehow (e.g., my second-ever program "Voices: From the experimental to the sacred"); maybe it's a feature program on a specific nation's musical high points, or some approach to composition. As well, some themed programs have in the past been organized into recurring and/or limited-run series of related programs, although I am not organizing shows in that way at present.

Check out the variety of ways I've organized programs to date!

Some programs are listed as "unthemed", but in reality, there is usually something going on there too. I might play blocks of pieces -- i.e., subthemes that don't last for the whole program -- by the same composer, featuring the same instrumentation, or what-have-you. Or I might use some strategy for organizing "unthemed" programs, such as my continuous segue approach I call From Cats To Dogs. Or I might make up something else on the spot, up to and including picking a playlist by random...

I'd love to hear your ideas for themes I could use to organize future programs. So keep those cards and letters, not to mention e-mail, coming... and help make Prisms be your program!
